From USEC Force
Welcome to the Unity Security Force Wiki,
a knowledge base to aid running, working with and participating in our Virtual Military Community.
Please be aware that the official Standing Orders overrules any content on the wiki.
Why do we have a wiki?
Running a Virtual Military is a complex task, so we utilize the power of a wiki to collate and contain information that is useful to us.
All USEC members are encouraged to submit information that is considered valuable to USEC in some way or another, especially maintaining pages pertaining to their unit or trade.
We already have 181 articles, to add more you will need to register.
New Members
If you are new to USEC and are unsure about how everything works, don't despair, we've all been there and on the left hand side navigation you'll see a special page for you guys to find your feet with us. Things change though and if you have any issues with the information provided, please ask on the forum for help. We have many members who will go out of their way to help you find your footing with USEC. If you know for sure that something on the wiki is incorrect, feel free to change it. Officers patrol the wiki regularly, so even if you make a mistake, it's reversible and therefore your active participation is encouraged.
Non-members
For those who come here (by accident) without knowing who or what USEC is, this website is essentially an index of knowledge used by USEC for the purpose of being a Virtual Military.
How the wiki works
The wiki is made up of major Portal pages for each of our Force Groups. Each of those Portals are home to sub-pages with information about the units and operations of that Force Group. To further enhance the navigation, each page is categorized and there is a list of categories available to make information easier to find.
To read or edit the wiki, you will need to Register. To edit the wiki, you will also need to read up on the wikitext language, which will take all of 10 minutes.
A guide on how to edit the wiki is available in the Navigation bar left. The Cheat sheet is your quick how-to, the Wiki Markup is a little bit more in-depth and on that page are 3 links to more in-depth, external, tutorials for if you are getting serious about it. Don't be afraid to edit, in fact, be bold in editing. You will not lose anything we have already written, as backups are regularly made and the wiki is built robustly.
It takes 10 minutes to learn how to do this and provides an excellent resource for us all to use. Editing the wiki is also an excellent way to gain promotion credit.
Most images are condensed in size here to save viewing space, so if your cursor changes when you hover over an image, it will enlarge if you click it and possibly have a detailed explanation.
Rules
Finally, we come to the rules.
A wiki is meant to be a free zone, where people can freely edit content. This is just fine, but we need to establish a few basic rules here at USEC to avoid complications and arguments.
- Only registered members of USEC may register here.
- Registered users may freely edit or add pages and may edit page content.
- However, on established pages, please use the discussion link at the top of the page, or ask on the forum about changing anything more than grammar or spelling. This avoids to'ing and fro'ing between content versions.
- The regular Chain of Command has final say over content.
- LTGEN 'tutmeister' Tutty is the Administrator, please use MyMail or forum PM to ask questions regarding this wiki.
Conclusion
If you made it this far down, thank you for your time and effort! We hope you enjoy our collective effort on the wiki, in return.
